华侨大学创办于1960年，直属中央统战部领导，是中央统战部、教育部与福建省共建的综合性大学，也是新中国最早实行董事会制度的大学之一。国家领导人廖承志、叶飞亲自担任首任、次任校长。现任党委书记徐西鹏，校长吴剑平。
华侨大学旅游体育平台成立于2004年，其前身华侨大学旅游系（创建于1984年）是教育部最早批准成立的全国八所旅游高等院校之一，是“中国旅游名校T10联盟”成员单位，也是国内第一家可以直接向海外招收本科生、硕士生、博士生的旅游院系。体育平台现有在校生近1200人，其中研究生100余人，境外生140余人，少数民族学生80多人。建院三十多年来，共培养海内外各类人才6000多人，其中境外学生600余人。现任院长为谢朝武教授，党委书记为许国玺，副院长叶新才、张慧。
体育平台师资力量雄厚，现有教职工56人，其中专任教师38人，正副教授32人，29人拥有博士学位。体育平台多名教师兼任国内重要的社会和学术职务，先后担任教育部高职高专旅游管理类专业教学指导委员会主任和秘书长、全国旅游管理专业学位研究生教育指导委员会委员、中国地理学会旅游地理专业委员会委员、中国地理学会农业地理与乡村发展专业委员会委员、中国旅游协会旅游教育分会副会长、全国餐饮行业教育教学指导委员会委员、中国烹饪协会理事、福建省旅游协会副会长等重要职务。
体育平台校外教师队伍强大。特聘中国工程院院士范维澄教授担任名誉教授、国务院学位委员会工商管理学科评议组成员高闯教授、高良谋教授担任特聘教授，先后敦聘戴斌（中国旅游研究院院长、肖洪根（香港理工大学酒店及旅游业管理体育平台博导）、吴必虎（国际旅游研究院院士）、张凌云（《旅游学刊》主编、张健中（澳门中旅酒店管理有限公司总经理）、姚军（华侨城集团总经理）任兼职教授。先后聘任多政、产、学、研专家学者担任研究生实践导师。
体育平台拥有博士、硕士、本科完整的学历人才培养体系，现有1个博士点（旅游管理）、2个硕士点（旅游管理、旅游管理专业学位硕士MTA）、4个本科专业（旅游管理、酒店管理、会展经济与管理、人文地理与城乡规划）。其中旅游管理博士点为全国四家独立二级学科博士点之一；旅游管理本科专业为国家级特色专业、国家一流专业、福建省高等体育平台 创新创业教育改革试点专业；酒店管理专业为福建省高等体育平台 服务产业特色专业、校级一流专业；《景区管理》课程为福建省高等体育平台 创新创业教育改革项目（精品资源共享课）；旅游实验中心获批“十二五”国家级旅游实验教学示范中心、旅游虚拟仿真实验中心获评国家级旅游虚拟仿真实验中心，体育平台还是首批获得旅游管理专业学位硕士（MTA）招生资格的院校。
体育平台设有旅游管理系、酒店管理系、会展经济与管理系、人文地理与城乡规划系、MTA教育中心和旅游实验中心等院属教学机构。
体育平台科研实力强大，设有海峡旅游发展研究院、闽澳研究所、旅游安全研究院、旅游科学研究所等8个研究机构，有中国旅游研究院首批五个外设机构之一的旅游安全研究基地。先后主持完成国家级、省部级课题近40项。体育平台开创国内旅游安全学研究先河，旅游安全与风险管理、旅游服务与饭店管理、港澳台侨旅游地理等研究在境内外有较强影响力。体育平台主编出版《旅游安全蓝皮书/中国旅游安全报告》，2012年以来每年出版一本；该皮书荣获2014年国家旅游局优秀旅游学术成果一等奖（研究报告类）。2015年11月，旅游安全研究中心获评福建省高校人文社会科学研究基地。
体育平台历来重视教学科研与服务社会并行，依托雄厚的人才基础和特色鲜明的社会服务能力，长期致力于为国家、省市县提供旅游立法咨询、规划设计、高端行业培训等高层次智力服务项目共计300多项；先后选派多名教师挂职担任福建武夷山、宁德、仙游、泰宁、湄洲岛、平潭国际旅游岛等重要旅游目的地旅游业分管领导，积极为地方旅游经济建设提供智力支持，产生了良好的社会影响。
体育平台与中国旅游研究院签订战略合作协议，在学科建设、学术交流、培养研究生等方面开展了深度合作。体育平台以交流为依托，大力拓展国际交流空间，与海内外相关教学科研机构长期建立了良好的学术合作关系，多位教师有海外留学或境外访学经历。体育平台还与香港理工大学、澳门旅游体育平台及台湾多所高校有着深入的合作，并与泰国博仁大学、庄甲盛•叻嚓帕大学长期交换实习生，与美国关岛大学等互派交换生。国际化办学水平全校领先。
体育平台重视“全人教育”，大力开展学生实习实训及“第二课堂”活动。体育平台目前拥有20多家高星级酒店和旅游景区的校外学生定点实习、实践基地。模拟导游大赛、主题宴会设计、餐饮产品创意设计与制作比赛、校园景观规划设计及“旅游论道”“可浓下午茶”“我的成长”励志讲堂等等已成为华侨大学旅游学子展现专业素养和青春风采的广阔平台。导游志愿服务队、礼仪志愿服务队承担了校内外重要领导来宾参观访问的导游和礼仪志愿者服务。体育平台形成了“起航之旅”迎新生晚会、“盛放之旅”毕业生晚会”“新生杯”篮球赛、“新旅程杯”辩论赛、“班班有歌声”合唱比赛及“旅游文化节”“旅游创新实践技能大赛”等在内的集学术知识讲授、成长体验分享、实践竞技比拼等多位一体的“我们旅游吧”文化教育活动体系，为实现“全人”教育，提升学生综合素养铺路搭桥。

College of Tourism, Huaqiao University
Founded in 1960, under the direct jurisdiction of the Oversea Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China, Huaqiao University is one of the key universities of Chinese government, and also a comprehensive university that was one of the first common institutions of higher learning qualified evaluation of undergraduate teaching.
College of Tourism is established in 2004. Her predecessor, the Tourism Department of Huaqiao University, which started in 1984, was the one of the first eight tourism colleges with the approval of China Education ministry. The college is the member unit of “ China’s top 10 tourism colleges”, and also the first school in China that recruits oversea undergraduate, graduate and PhD. Students. The present Dean is Prof. XIE Chaowu.
College of Tourism has a staff of 56 qualified faculty members. Among them 38 are full-time teachers, 32 professors and associate professors and 29 Doctors. Many teachers are also shouldering important social and academic responsibilities. Such as the Director and Secretary of Tourism management Education Committee of Higher Vocational Education of Education Ministry, member of National Tourism Graduate Degree Steering Committee, member of Food and Beverage and hospitality Higher Vocational Education Steering Committee, member of Tourism Geography Professional Committee of the Geographical Society of China,Vice-chairman of Education Branch of China Travel Organizers, Vice-chairman of Fujian travel Association etc.
College of Tourism has a complete personnel training system with one Doctorate program, three Master's programs, four bachelor's programs. Tourism management Doctorate program is one of the four doctoral disciplines II; tourism management bachelor's program is the national characteristic professionalism; higher vocational program is a state- level teaching reform major. Moreover, the College is also one of the first school that has been qualified to recruit MTA（Maters of Tourism Administration.
With a high the capacity for scientific research, School of Tourism has 8 academies, such as Cross-Straight Travel Institute, Fujian and Macao institute and Tourism Safety Institute, which was one of the first 5 institutes set up by Chinese Travel Academy, taking charge and completing nearly 40 provincial and ministerial projects.
Focusing on teaching, research and social service, College of Tourism has completed over 300 social projects in tourism planning, hotel management and industry development consultation. She also appointed some teachers to Ningde, Wuyi Mount, Xianyou, Taining, Meizhou Island, Pingtan International Tourism Island, Taining and other important tourist destination to hang duty, which as provided great intellectual support to local tourism industry. In 2012 and 2013, school and college signed a school-enterprise cooperation agreement with Xiamen Airlines Co., Ltd. and Xiamen Airlines Hotel Management Co., Ltd., starting a new mode of college-enterprise cooperation.
College of tourism also build a great relationship with some oversea colleges and enterprises. Many teacher have oversea study and visiting experiences, and many students have been send to macao tourism college, University of Guam, Dhurakij Pundit University, Chandrakasem Rajabhat University and some universities in Taiwan for exchange learning. In September 2014, we will establish english teaching classes to educate international tourism talents for the society.
Now we have nealy 1200 students, including 100 postgraduates, 142 oversea students and 80 ethnic minority students. We have cultivated nearly 3000 students in the last 30 years, including 600 overseas.
With the motto that “exploit the superiority, highlight the feature, lead in nation and go to the world” , the College of Tourism will try to be first class nationwide and world famous school .
